Nis-Momme Stockmann (born August 17, 1981 in Wyk auf Föhr ) is a German author and theater director .

Life

Nis-Momme Stockmann did his Abitur at Duborg-Skolen , the Flensburg- based grammar school for the Danish minority on mainland Schleswig-Holstein. He then studied “Tibetan Language and Culture” in Hamburg, media studies in Odense , Denmark , trained as a cook and finally studied scenic writing at the Berlin University of the Arts .

Since 2002 he has been working as a freelance artist, setting up residential projects and independent groups - writing, taking photos, painting and filming.

In 2005 he founded the “Laboratorium” - a studio and art project in an empty elementary school in Flensburg, from which the KKI (art and culture initiative) later emerged.

Stockmann's award-winning dramatic debut The Man Who Ate the World premiered on December 17, 2009 in Heidelberg . More than ten other productions of the play followed, including at the Residenztheater in Munich and at the Theater Basel , as well as numerous invitations and guest performances.

Since the 2009/10 season he has been a resident author at the Schauspiel Frankfurt .

Stockmann writes plays, radio plays, poetry, prose and essays and occasionally teaches at the Zurich University of the Arts .

His works are shown at the Deutsches Theater Berlin , Schauspiel Frankfurt, Staatstheater Stuttgart , Residenztheater Munich , Staatstheater Hannover and at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe , have been translated many times and are played abroad.

His first novel “The Fox” was nominated in 2016 for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize.

Japan trip

In February 2012 Stockmann traveled to Japan at the invitation of the Goethe Institute and there to the protection zone of the damaged Fukushima-Daiichi reactor . He reported on his trip on his blog. Interviews and a report for the magazine specific (April 2012) were created.

Awards and grants

  • In 2005 he won 1st prize at the Odense International Film Festival for his short film Ignorans .
  • For his play The Man Who Ate the World , Stockmann was awarded the Authors' Prize of the Heidelberger Stückemarkt and the Audience Prize in 2009.
  • Also in 2009 he won the work order from the Stückemarkt of the Berlin Theatertreffen.
  • He was nominated for the Mülheim Dramatist Prize 2010 with the Stuttgart production of his play Kein Schiff Willommen ( No Ship Will Come) .
  • In 2010 he was awarded the Schiller Memorial Prize .
  • The man who ate the world was invited in 2010 as a German contribution to the theater biennial “ New Plays from Europe ” in Wiesbaden.
  • The Frankfurt production of the Blue Blue Sea is invited to the 2010 Autorentheatertage at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin.
  • Together with four other authors, Nis-Momme Stockmann was a scholarship holder from September 2009 at the Düsseldorf Authoring Laboratory , headed by Thomas Jonigk .
  • The man who ate the world was voted one of the 120 best European plays in 2009 by the ETC (European Theater Convention).
  • In the critics' survey by Theater heute , he was selected (with nine mentions and one in the main category) as the young dramatist of the year 2010.
  • In 2011 he won the Friedrich Hebbel Prize because he “had revitalized the German theater scene with his plays in just a few years”, according to the jury.
  • In June 2011 he was invited to the Festival of European Contemporary Playwrights 2011 in Copenhagen.

  • In 2015 he won the Hermann Sudermann Prize as part of the Autorentheatertage at the Deutsches Theater Berlin .

House authorship Frankfurt

With the start of the 2009/10 season, Nis-Momme Stockmann is a resident author at the Schauspiel Frankfurt . On January 22nd, 2010 The Blue Sea , the first play of his three-year residency, was premiered in the Kammerspiele, directed by Marc Lunghuss. A radio play version of the play with Milan Peschel , Jaecki Schwarz and Chris Pichler in the leading roles was produced by RBB and broadcast shortly after the premiere.

Stockmann also writes and designs a literary variety show in Frankfurt: Herkules Manhattan's holistic compendium of modern being - together with Christian Prasno (video), Les Trucs (music), Yassu Yabara (stage and direction).

In addition, Stockmann runs a literary blog on the website of the Schauspiel Frankfurt - Stockmanns Appendix .

In the 2010/2011 season, Stockmann's second work for Schauspiel Frankfurt - Die Ängstlichen und die Brutalen followed .

Collaboration with Les Trucs

Stockmann works with the music duo Les Trucs . Together they create the “transmediale Varieté” Herkules Manhattan's Holistic Compendium of Modern Being at the Schauspiel Frankfurt. They also worked on the theater evening "Expedition and Psychiatry" (Heidelberg Theater). In April 2012, Fuchs eats space - a microtour with poetry and music
