Tilman Gersch
Tilman Gersch (born December 14, 1964 in Berlin ) is a German theater director and director .
Life
Tilman Gersch, son of the theater critic and film historian Wolfgang Gersch and the literary translator Christel Gersch, grew up in Berlin-Pankow. From 1984 to 1985 he worked as a stage technician and dramaturgy intern at the Deutsches Theater Berlin . He then took up directing studies at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Art , which he graduated in 1989 with a diploma. From 1989 to 1991 he worked as in-house director at the Theater an der Parkaue in Berlin. He then got a job as in-house director at the Greifswald Theater , where he worked until 1993.
In 1993 and 1994, Tilman Gersch taught as a lecturer at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin and at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music and Theater in Leipzig .
Since 1993 he has worked as a freelance director at leading German theaters. A continuous collaboration linked and connects him with the directors Wolfgang Engel ( Schauspiel Leipzig ), Ulrich Khuon ( Staatstheater Hannover and Thalia Theater Hamburg ), Mark Zurmühle ( Deutsches Theater Göttingen ) and Manfred Beilharz ( Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden ).
From 2007 to 2014 Tilman Gersch was a permanent director and member of the acting management at the Hessian State Theater Wiesbaden . Since January 1, 2015 he has been director of the Theater im Pfalzbau, Ludwigshafen. The international theater festival Open World took place for the first time under his direction in February 2015 .
