Tom Ockers

Thomas "Tom" Ockers (born November 18, 1962 in Düsseldorf ) is a German journalist , filmmaker and marathon runner .

Life

He began his journalistic career at the age of 17 at the Rheinische Post , studied philosophy , German and journalism and worked, among other things, as a stand builder and German teacher for foreigners, before he began working for NDR in 1989 as a television editor and producer. Ockers has been working as a freelancer since 1998. In 1999 he received the Hamburg Satire Prize . In 2001, he ran into Siberia the Ice Marathon and documented his experiences in 2002 in the book Ice run .

Personal

Tom Ockers has a son (* 1997; from his marriage to Eva Herman 1995–2002), his second marriage is to the author and journalist Maiken Nielsen and lives in Hamburg.
