characters
As a housewife, Gundula Bundschuh holds the strings of the family process in hand. She looks after the children, cooks, bakes, cleans and organizes family reunions.
Gerald Bundschuh works for the tax office and loves his record collection " German Schlager ". In his youth he was once a national mini-golf champion . He fully relies on his wife Gundula for all organizational matters.
Son Rolfi studies in America and surprises his parents with a surprise marriage with the heavily pregnant Afro-American Candy, who then fails because her father Reginald has recommended the ex-boyfriend again.
Daughter Ricarda is a teenager with a mind of her own. She is going to high school and is about to graduate from high school.
Youngest son Matz fits into family life more or less well.
Gundula`s brother Hadi is not only an unsuccessful esotericism - writers , but also highly hypochondriac disposition. His wife Rose is extremely religious, which she quickly forgets after drinking some alcohol. Gerald thinks they are both unbearable annoyances and is not very pleased when one day they leave their Swabian Memmingen and move into a house across the street. After a misstep with a colored American, Rose becomes pregnant and gives birth to a colored child.
At first, Edgar's father struggles with his mild Alzheimer's disease , which gets worse and worse, so that Gundula finally keeps her father with him for care until he dies in the end.
Mother Ilse quarrels with Gerald's mother Susanne wherever she can. She thinks she knows everything better and suffers from the fact that nobody notices how difficult it is for her. She fears that she will develop Alzheimer's one day and decides to start over. She buys the empty house next door to the Bundschuhs and begins therapy with Mr. Mussorksky.
Gerald's mother Susanne runs three lingerie boutiques (one of them in Mallorca ), where she mainly sells lingerie for love life . She is a woman of life and has a drinking problem . With her way of living and spending money, she especially annoys Gundula's mother Ilse.
Mr Mussorksky is a respiratory therapist and the Bundschuh's neighbor. Whenever she doesn't know what to do next, or when she needs someone to talk to, Gundula always tries to be close by and keeps dreaming in her head about starting an affair with him.

criticism
“Basically, the films always tell the same story. The only thing that changes are the general conditions: Christmas, vacation together, funeral service followed by a wedding; Most of the occasions for a family celebration are ticked off. ”“ Worth seeing ”are the films“ primarily because of the ensemble, which doesn't even try to play against the respective clichés of the roles, but rather takes them to extremes. ”“ Sawatzki is also a pleasant narrator, which is why Gundula's occasional off-screen comments, in contrast to many other films, don't bother, especially since they always complement the plot in a meaningful way. The secret star of the series is Stephan Grossmann, who is almost always wasted on secondary characters, who would move the plaintive Hadi with small gestures almost into the vicinity of a figure of pity if the man weren't such a pain in the ass.
