content

The Freeses live in a multi-generational household with Heiko Postel, the tenant of the apartment that belongs to the house. The life of the Freese family is fictitiously recorded by microphones in the style of Big Brother and broadcast as a "compilation" on weekdays at 7.17 am. The five pre-episodes are therefore about the preparatory work, e.g. B. the installation of the microphones in the house of the Freeses. In these episodes, Andreas Altenburg plays himself as an NDR employee, and his colleagues also have their say.

The episodes usually begin with the words "Put your cell phone away", always pronounced by a different person, referring to someone who is busy with his cell phone. Then the characters talk together about strategies for coping with everyday life, current events and extreme philosophical positions. At the end, the typical North German question is asked "Can't we even be like a completely normal family?"

In contrast to the previous series Breakfast at Stefanie's , the comedy does not only present the freeses in a domestic setting, even when they are out, they are accompanied by the radio microphones.

Charisma

After the repeats of the best-of episodes of Breakfast at Stefanie came to an end on August 1, 2014 , NDR 2 broadcast five pre-episodes of the new comedy series Wir sind die from September 8 to September 12, 2014 after the summer break Freeses .

The regular episodes have been broadcast since September 15, 2014 in the early programming of NDR 2, Monday to Friday at 7.17 a.m. Repetitions run at different times in the morning and at 4:45 p.m. The NDR also offers the programs as podcasts.

The episode Eurocopter , scheduled for March 6, 2015 and broadcast at 5.45 a.m. (for early risers), was broadcast at 7.17 a.m. by Sherlock Holmes after the accident involving the rescue helicopter Christoph 51 became known on March 5, 2015 in Stuttgart replaced. Eurocopter was then broadcast on March 9th at 7.17 am.

On April 29, 2017, NDR 2 broadcast for three hours with the voices of Grandma Rosi, Bianca, Svenni and Snäcki - spoken live by Andreas Altenburg - from a real pub in Hamburg-Harvestehude . All 55 tickets for the event Melodies, People, Mixed Drinks - NDR 2 live from the owl from Rosi's legendary corner bar were raffled off.

Broadcast breaks

On the occasion of the serious airplane accident in southern France , no program was broadcast on March 25, 2015. Likewise, no episode was broadcast on November 16, 2015 after the terrorist attacks in Paris . An episode in the summer extra The Freese Chronicles was canceled on July 15, 2016 because of the terrorist attack in Nice . Even after the terrorist attack in Berlin , no episode was broadcast on December 20, 2016. Due to a flu illness of Andreas Altenburg, episodes that had already been broadcast were repeated from March 21, 2018, as well as on November 1, 2019. Since Andreas Altenburg was stuck in Mallorca as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic , from March 19 to 24, 2020 Best of episodes repeated.

In the summer months, the program took a summer break for five or six weeks. In 2015, the Freeses flew to Cala Rajada on Mallorca for their summer vacation , and in the first week of their vacation they were accompanied live by the NDR microphones. In 2016 Bianca went on a Mediterranean cruise on the Costa Magica with her lover Bernhard and Grandma Rosi traveled with Svenni to the island of Borkum . The Freese Chronicles - Facts from Family Research were broadcast for four weeks to bridge the gap. In 2017 Svenni went to the holiday camp, in 2018 the Freeses went on a motorhome holiday at the Müritz with Heiko , in 2019 they spent again in Cala Rajada, the summer breaks were bridged with the best of freeses selected by listeners .

Crossover

We are the Freeses shares a common series universe with Stefanie's radio comedy breakfast, which ended in 2013 . There were crossovers between the two series in three episodes .

While Grandma Rosi steered a Hermes courier driver to her home by phone, she referred to a bistro in the route description, in which there was always a dog on the counter. The driver replied that there was a grandpa standing there. These allusions to Rocky and Franz Gehrke from Breakfast at Stefanie suggest that the Freeses' house is near Steffi's breakfast bistro.

Six weeks later for Christmas, Steffi, Georg, Udo and Franz from breakfast were waiting in line in front of the package delivery behind the Freese family with Stefanie. When, after the only female postal worker, there was a risk that no more parcels could be handed out before Christmas Eve, retired post office clerk Georg Ahlers took over the issue.

At the ceremony for the anniversary episode, Stefanie and Udo were entrusted with the catering . When Heiko asked if there were any rolls left, Stefanie replied: “No, I have to smear them first. Milk and sugar …".

Individual evidence

  1. There was probably no agreement on Rosi's date of birth. As a result, Declared Presents on April 30, 2015 is Rosi's birthday and declares for the evening: “I wanted to go to the owl in May”. However, she celebrated her 65th birthday on June 8, 2016 in the episode Totally click offe Heart . This was explained in the Freese Chronicle episode The Freese Family Tree on July 21, 2016 with the fact that she spontaneously proclaimed her birthday in 2015 in order to induce the NDR to dance in May at the expense of the fee payer .
