Hot witch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The hot witch is the brand name for a former convenience food system from the Unilever subsidiary Langnese-Iglo , which was popular in Germany from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s . A similar system was also available from Schöller under the Hot Shop brand .

The concept involved a machine equipped with microwave technology that offered a selection of 13 ready meals such as hamburgers , cheeseburgers and hot dogs . Around 10,000 devices were sold or leased in the late 1980s . Preparing other products in this machine entailed contractual penalties . The aim was to gain market share in the fast-food segment , which was growing at the time , by primarily supplying smaller businesses such as kiosks , drinking halls and petrol stations without their own kitchens. Until 2011/12, the company continued to offer frozen products for domestic microwave ovens under the brand .
