Johannes Wimmer
Johannes Wimmer (born May 16, 1983 in Hamburg ) is a German doctor and television presenter .
Education and employment
Wimmer studied human medicine at the Philipps University of Marburg and the University of Lübeck . He received his doctorate in 2011 on the evaluation of cartilage replacement procedures (AMIC and MACT) using optimized magnetic resonance imaging . In 2013 he completed a combined training and research program in radiology at the University Clinic for Radiodiagnostics of the Medical University of Vienna (MUW) with an MBA in Health Care Management . After working as an assistant doctor in the Radiological Alliance (Hamburg) and in the central emergency department (internal and general medicine) of the Asklepios Clinic Hamburg-Wandsbek , Wimmer worked from June 2015 to July 2017 as Head of Digital Patient Communication in the "Competence Center Health Services Research in Dermatology" (CVderm) at the University Clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf . The main topics of his work were a. doctor-patient communication, health management and digitalization in medicine. Since 2020 he has been working as a medical officer in the Navy at the Bundeswehr Psychotrauma Center in Berlin.
Media presence
In 2013, Wimmer began health tips for consumers as a "TV and video doctor" in the YouTube channel, which was operated together with Dumrath & Fassnacht , entitled Dr. Johannes and later on other platforms on the Internet. The last video as Doctor Johannes was uploaded to YouTube at the end of 2015. Since then he has appeared as Doctor Johannes Wimmer. Since autumn 2015, he has presented a guidebook section within the health magazine Visite of NDR television . Since the end of May 2016, the NDR has broadcast its knowledge format Dr. Wimmer - knowledge is the best medicine from. Since September 2017, the NDR has been producing with him - also in seasons - the quiz show Dr. Wimmers medicine quiz.
In November 2019, Sat.1 produced the TV show Dr. Wimmer , to be broadcast in 2020.
On August 28, 2020, Wimmer told the NDR Talk Show that his six-month-old daughter had an aggressive brain tumor.
