The series, filmed in Berlin dialect , premiered on April 15, 2020 in the ARD media library and is to be broadcast on rbb television from April 22, 2020 . The script was written by the author Oliver Bukowskiand directed by Dirk Kummer . The series was produced by Senator Film Produktion .

action

It is quite possible that Johannes - 'Hannes' - ( Ronald Zehrfeld ) and his friend Ralf - 'Ralle' - ( Felix Kramer ), both intensely lived in their late forties, only meet at the terminus to be and to be completely to themselves speak. The landscape in front of and behind them is open and offers no protection anywhere - and that's exactly how they talk to each other. But maybe it is also driven by memories. After all, the stop was “dit gateway to the world, the damned interface between pampas and intellijentet life” when the two friends were still going to work, into town or even on vacation. They are now disabled early and long-term unemployed . Sometimes they crouch at the bus stop because they are waiting for someone. To strangers who have sunk in the bus, or to Kathrin ( Jördis Triebel ). For the two dropouts, the shaggy, beautiful bus driver is their last line of contact with the world. Here at the end stop, she has a cigarette break. For Hannes and Ralle it is “the top league. Food for mortals ”. And then there is the dog Maik, heartbreakingly ugly and amazingly stupid, but always innocent and cheerful. True friendship with men and lots of things to talk about at a bus stop somewhere in Brandenburg.

production

The eight episodes of the series were shot in autumn 2019 in Neu Falkenrehde, a district of the small town of Ketzin . The main venue - the bus shelter - was set up at the end of a cul-de-sac with a turning loop. Waiting for a bus is one of the first series within ARD that was produced for advance utilization in the ARD media library.

reception

  • Elmar Krekeler judges in the world : “The greatest German series, we are already committed to it, goes like never before. How actually no series can go. It's about nothing. And of everything. From us. No matter where we are. By the way, it's called 'Waiting for a bus'. "
  • Holger Gertz from the Süddeutsche Zeitung writes: "In a comedy gem from the RBB, Ronald Zehrfeld and Felix Kramer are sitting in a bus stop in Brandenburg - as two East Germans that you seldom see in the media."
  • Michael Müller from the industry specialist service Blickpunkt Film says: “The rbb series 'Waiting for a bus' about two long-term unemployed hits the zeitgeist. But it is also simply really well written and played. "
  • Katharina Happ from Hörzu recommends waiting for a bus because “... this series is one of the best that has been shot on the German TV landscape for a long time. The idea alone is terrific. Then the main actors play so well that you want to pay them a visit and shake hands. And while you're at it, you could also drive by the director, cameraman and screenwriter, because they have also delivered the finest craft. In short, 'Waiting for a bus' is excellent: Weird, wonderfully down-to-earth humor, lots of heart, unique scenes, lovable characters and clever dialogues. A really great television pleasure that you should definitely treat yourself to. "

Awards

Nomination for the German Television Award 2020 as Best Comedy Series and for Felix Kramer and Ronald Zehrfeld as Best Actor.
