Life

Pierre-Yves Gayraud has been working as a costume designer in the film business since the early 1990s. With Régis Wargnier's Oscar- winning film Indochine (1992), in which Catherine Deneuve played the leading role, he was able to record his first major success. Together with Gabriella Pescucci he received a César nomination for the costumes of the film drama set in Vietnam in the 1930s . This was followed by the film comedy Graduating Class: Wilde Jugend - 1975 by Cédric Klapisch and the 19th century biopic Total Eclipse - The Affair of Rimbaud and Verlaine (1995) with Leonardo DiCaprio in the role of the young poet Arthur Rimbaud .

For French television, Gayraud made the historical costumes for Nina Companéez 's miniseries Die Allee des König in 1996 . In the same year he worked on the comedy film ... and everyone is looking for their kitten again with director Cédric Klapisch. Régis Wargnier also came back to the costume designer once more when he directed the drama Est-Ouest - A Love in Russia (1999) with Sandrine Bonnaire and Catherine Deneuve. For Tykwer's high-budget literary adaptation Cloud Atlas (2012), in which Tom Hanks and Halle Berry played the leading roles, and which played at different times , Gayraud was nominated for numerous film awards together with Kym Barrett and was awarded the German Film Prize a second time in 2013.
