The Miracle of Nature is a 2011 French film with nature shots directed by Claude Nuridsany and Marie Pérennou . The film has a narrative character, the viewer is invited by the protagonist to discover nature through the eyes of children. The instruction on the species shown, such as B. common in many documentaries, is not in the foreground here.

During the big summer holidays, visiting relatives in the south of France, a lonely boy discovers a pond and visits it again and again. He observes the plants and animals in and around the pond, in the air, on and in the water, which the film shows in fascinating images. Macro shots and underwater shots usually allow the viewer to experience hardly any observations. The nameless boy initially perceives the visits of a girl, whom he calls "Iris", as an intrusion into his kingdom; later he wishes to become more and more familiar with her.

Vehicles and clothing locate the film around the 50s to 60s.

The team of directors Claude Nuridsany and Marie Pérennou as well as the composer Bruno Coulais previously worked together on the award-winning film Mikrokosmos - Das Volk der Gräser .
