Mikrokosmos - The People of the Grass is a French documentary from 1996 directed by Claude Nuridsany and Marie Pérennou . It shows the natural processes in the life of insects in a meadow in France.

The film observes the hustle and bustle of bees , ladybirds , snails , spiders , ants and mosquitoes while they are eating, mating, hunting, being hunted, fighting or hatching.

Because the viewer meets the protagonists at eye level, which is done with the help of extreme macro shots , slow motion and high-speed cameras, he enters a familiar world in a completely new way.

  • The film won five Césars . Thierry Machado, Hugues Ryffel, Claude Nuridsany and Marie Pérennou received awards for the best camera, Florence Ricard and Marie-Josèphe Yoyotte received the award for the best editing, Bruno Coulais won the César for the best original music, Jacques Perrin for the best production and Philippe Barbeau and Bernard Leroux received the award for the best sound.
