The Association sportive Cail Denain Voltaire Porte du Hainaut (also: ASC Denain (-Voltaire)) is a French basketball club from Denain .
history
The association was founded in 1947 in the courtyard of the Denain-Voltaire school by the teacher Jean-Marie Degros . Two years after it was founded, he joined the French Basketball Federation and from then on took part in the league. In 1958, still vice-cup winner, Denain celebrated its first title win in 1960 by winning the French basketball cup. Five years later the club became French champions. The team also included five students from the school where the association was founded. The following year they played another strong season and were runner-up and cup winners for the third time. In the 1966/67 season they won their fourth cup and in 1971 they were runner-up again. This was the last success of the club, which was then relegated to the lower leagues. ASC Denain-Voltaire is currently playing in France's second-highest division, the LNB Pro B.
