French champion (basketball)
A French champion in basketball is the most successful team in each year of a French Basketball Championship. For the first time in 1921 a French basketball champion was chosen with the Stade français . Since then there have been 31 different titleholders.
Since the 1987/88 season, the French champions have been determined by the Ligue Nationale de Basket (LNB).
The record holder of the men's title is ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne with 19 championships. If you only take into account the titles since the LNB was founded, Limoges CSP is the record champion with eight titles.
