occupation

Hindafing is a Bavarian television series , the " amigo-like Bavarian local politics" in a place "somewhere between Ingolstadt and the Czech border" satirizes . The first broadcast of the first season, which was filmed from July to September 2016 under the working title Welcome to Hindafing, began on May 16, 2017 on BR TV , and the first season has been available as video-on-demand via Netflix since September 2017 .

From February 2019, the second season was filmed, which was broadcast from 7th ( Arte ) or 26th November 2019 ( BR ) and is also available on Netflix.

background

Hindafing's concept emerged from a series tender by Bayerischer Rundfunk in collaboration with the Munich University of Television and Film . The books for the series were created by the Neuesuper production company. Following the Scandinavian shared vision principle , producer Rafael Parente wrote the episodes together with author Niklas Hoffmann and director Boris Kunz. The project was funded by the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern with € 650,000. The film was shot at various locations in the Munich area . The premiere took place on May 3, 2017 in the Cadillac Cinema in Arabellapark . One week before the first broadcast on BR TV , all episodes were available in advance in the ARD media library . Since September 2, 2017, the series can also be found in the streaming service of Netflix. The second season has been available there since February 14, 2020.

In addition to Bayerischer Rundfunk, the second season was also co-produced by Arte , where the episodes were available in the media library before they were broadcast on TV .

action

The scenes in and around the Hindafingen town hall and the interior shots of the police station were shot in Olching .

The privately heavily indebted mayor Alfons Zischl wants to give his small Upper Bavarian community Hindafing, which is barely developed for tourism in the midst of outdated industry, a new image. The young, corruptible town hall chief has the plan to build the modern organic shopping center Donau Village with a connection to the A 9 , together with his friend and organic butcher Sepp Goldhammer . However, the state politics thwarted them , because Hindafing is supposed to take in 50 refugees. In return, the indebted mayor is said to have access to his deceased father's black money accounts , to which the district administrator has access. In addition, Zischl's personal problems, such as his crystal meth consumption and police investigations against him, play an increasingly important role. Due to his own mistakes and unfavorable entanglements, more and more problems begin to pile up around Zischl in quick succession. As a result, his reputation in the village is dwindling, shortly before the mayoral election. In order to master these problems, Zischl resorted to increasingly questionable means, which only resulted in new predicaments. A downward spiral of blackmail, paranoia and political impotence continues.

At the beginning of the second season, Zischl actually sits as a member of the Bavarian state parliament . Together with his wife Marie, who is expecting a son, he lives in a small official apartment in Munich that belonged to his predecessor, who is imprisoned for possessing child pornography . But as a representative of his constituency, he continues to regularly stay in Hindafing, where he has also kept his office and secretary. In the further course it becomes clear that Zischl is still neither privately nor professionally able to take responsibility, one devious plan follows the other and he is magically attracted by bad luck. So the politician tries to save a medium-sized company that is about to fail and turns out to be an armaments company. He accidentally shoots the Prime Minister , has a relationship with his colleague Diana and has to claim out of necessity that he has prostate cancer . In addition to her husband, Marie now also has to grapple with her mother, who has disappeared since childhood, who brings a suitcase with a large amount of money and is devoted to esotericism . The Goldhammers can first celebrate the return of their long-lost son Moritz, but then lose him to the Bundeswehr . The former Hindafinger pastor Johannes and the new mayor Karli are also part of subplots again.

reception

“If a series is announced as the 'Bavarian Fargo ', it can only backfire. But it doesn't. Even after the opening credits you ask yourself: Is that what a BR production looks like? No she does not. ... a fast-paced, black humor rogue story from the hinterland of the A9 . ... The series is great above all because it knows how to accommodate topics such as refugee accommodation , rotten meat scandals , Panama Papers , dementia and corruption as light as a feather. ... Hindafing is a must for southern Germans, for everyone else you only want subtitles from the BR . "

- Carolin Ströbele : The time

"Smart, but not cerebral, coarse and politically incorrect."

- Kathrin Hollmer : Süddeutsche Zeitung

“BR-Fernsehen is daring and is launching a home series that comes along as the Bavarian answer to ' Breaking Bad '. ... Anyone who expects a brilliant fireworks display that blows up one cliché after the other and throws a glaring light of truth on the southwest German province in a satirical escalation, however, has to wait a long time until 'Hindafing' ignites. And even then, many gags turn out to be firecrackers. As much as the writers Niklas Hoffmann and Boris Kunz have packed into their script , the dialogues always lack the right timing, and the director Boris Kunz takes it easy. At the pace of an extremely leisurely walking blues he strolls into the impending mess. "

“The BR six-part 'Hindafing' is… already the second German series this spring that is staged on an international level. 'Hindafing' is satirically exaggerated and embellished with relish - and yet, with an unmistakable sense of reality, it takes up the distortions that failed provincial daydreams leave behind. The proud Free State here becomes a failed state, complete with crystal meth kitchens and violent farmers' precariat, which makes the social hot spots of the cities look like idylls. Bavaria Noir. "

“… A black, humorous, politically incorrect, sometimes a bit half-baked fun, written and staged by a young team. Fresh and cheeky entertainment from the Bavarian province, but you can also see the cool American role models. ... You can tell the makers in many places which series influenced them and probably inspired them ... That is sometimes narrated in a pleasant manner. ... It's not always really smooth and smooth. The quality of the individual scenes fluctuates too much, some seem half-baked, others - such as the scene on the soccer field - are a bit wooden. But the innovative part clearly predominates. Many sequences are full of bubbling ideas, are shrill, weird and wonderfully pointed. The timing is right. What the makers want is tangible and visible, even if streamlining the series would have done well. "

- Volker Bergmeister : Tittelbach.tv

“Purgatory before Ingolstadt: 'Hindafing' is cool. 'Hindafing' is 'Fargo' without snow. A world-class German series, hidden in Bavaria 3, tells the apocalypse of a Bavarian village. "

- Elmar Krekeler : The world

“With“ Hindafing ”the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation landed a hit. ... that the editorial team allowed such a wild ride to happen through the thoughts and actions of madmen, half-fools and assholes, can safely be described as a miracle. "
