Rotten meat

Rotten meat (to gammeln - colloquially for food gradually becoming inedible after lying for a long time) is a colloquial , negative term for spoiled, inedible meat, which was coined and used by the media in the period from October 2005 to March 2006 during a wave of meat scandals in Germany has been. The Society for German Language chose the word in the list Word of the Year 2005 in fifth place.

The word rotten meat party , a cheeky paraphrase for over-30 parties, was voted youth word of the year in 2008. The jury justified its decision with the fact that the word was an “attention magnet” and represented a “stumbling block” simply because of its “disgusting factor”.
