After the Sudetenland was annexed to Germany in autumn 1938, the line came to the Deutsche Reichsbahn , Reichsbahndirektion Breslau . In the Reich curriculum , the connection was now included as KBS 155f Ruhbank and Merzdorf (Rsgb) –Landeshut – Königshan (–Schatzlar) –Trautenau (–Freiheit-Johannisbad) –Pelsdorf (–Marchdorf [Böhmen]) - Hohenelbe. After the end of the Second World War , the line came back to the ČSD.

On January 1, 1993, as a result of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, the line was transferred to the newly founded Czech state railway company České dráhy (ČD). Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

The 2008 timetable provided for 29 pairs of passenger trains every working day, each running in connection with the trains on the Stará Paka – Trutnov route. Some of the trains were also tied to Trutnov. Only the proven two-axle railcars of the ČD series 810 are used for this .
