Aribinda , also Arbinda , is both a municipality ( French commune rurale ) and a department encompassing the same area in the West African state of Burkina Faso in the Sahel region and the Soum province . The community had 91,020 inhabitants in 2006 and is located near the border with Niger .

The Aribinda airfield has the international identifier XAR.

On October 28, 1895, a protectorate treaty was signed with the French Georges Destenave .

On December 24, 2019, jihadist militias attacked the military base and opened fire on civilians as they escaped. According to the authorities, 35 civilians, 80 attackers and seven members of the security forces died in the fighting.
