Djibo is a city in northern Burkina Faso with 60,599 inhabitants (2006 census). It is the capital of Soum Province in the Sahel region .

Djibo was founded in the 16th century and was the capital of the Fulani emirate Djelgodji , in the 19th century it was dominated by Massina . The most important population group are the Fulbe . The city is known for its cattle market.
