The Massina (also Macina ) is about 40,000 square kilometers large flood lowlands with inland delta of the Niger in Mali .

location

In it are the towns of Djenne , which at Bani - tributary is the Niger, and Mopti . Timbuktu joins northeast .

history

After the warlike jihad of Ahmad b. Mohammad 1818 established around 1820 to 1862 in Hamdullahi the seat of a Fulbe ruler who proclaimed himself Amīr al-Mu'minīn (" ruler of the believers ").
