Michael Kranz
Michael Kranz (born April 17, 1983 in Ravensburg ) is a German actor and director .
Life
Since his father was a senior physician at a ward in the Center for Psychiatry Bad Schussenried , he grew up with his three siblings in an official apartment on the clinic premises at the time. He attended the Studienkolleg St. Johann Blönried and graduated from high school there in 2003. At the age of 17, he lived for a year on the Pine Ridge Indian reservation , where he graduated from Red Cloud High School in 2001. In 2008 he completed his acting training at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich.
He then worked as an actor in film and television productions, as well as a theater actor, among others at the Münchner Kammerspiele . At the same time, he studied at the University of Television and Film Munich , where he graduated in March 2018 with a diploma in documentary film directing and television journalism.
Internationally, Kranz was seen in the drama The White Ribbon - A German Children's Story (2009) by Michael Haneke , in Quentin Tarantino's war film Inglourious Basterds and in Steven Spielberg's films Companions and Bridge of Spies - The Negotiator . His portrayal of Flo in Sebastian Stern's Die Hummel earned him a nomination for the best young actor at the Munich Film Festival . He became known to a broader television audience through the series Hindafing , in which he plays the town pastor Kraus. The series was awarded the Austrian Romy Film Prize in 2018 .
The social spot MYborder's JOYfence, directed by Michael Kranz and promoting more togetherness in society, received the First Steps Award and the Porsche Award (bronze) in 2018.
Michael Kranz is a member of the German Film Academy .

Michael Kranz is the initiator of the Bondhu Project Bangladesh . The Bondhu Project offers brothel children in Faridpur a safe home and an education. It also helps girls who have been freed from forced prostitution through training programs to reintegrate into society. The Bondhu project works with the Bengali non-governmental organization “Shapla Mohila Sangstha” and the German organization “Hand in Hand Global”. It is financed through private donations.
