Maya the Bee - The Movie is a German-Australian animated film by Alexs Stadermann based on the 3D animation series of the same name . The cinema release in Germany was on September 11, 2014.
The film was sold in a total of 49 countries.
action
The bee colony of the poppy meadow is growing: Maya the bee is one of the newly hatched bees and is full of energy and starts to discover her world. To the chagrin of Mrs. Kassandra, she doesn't always follow the rules of the beehive. She befriends Willi, who loves to be lazy, and meets the grasshopper Flip.
When the “royal jelly” is stolen, an elixir that keeps the queen bee alive, Maja is accused of collaborating with the hornets. The royal adviser Gunilla believes a war against the hornets is inevitable, so Maja has to do everything possible to find a peaceful solution.
background
After the general overhaul of the characters of the original television series from 1975 for the CGI series of ZDF from 2013, in which the title hero Maja was visibly slimmed down, the movie is based on the new look. However, the voice actors are not identical and were replaced by prominent speakers for the theatrical release, such as Jan Delay as Willi.
criticism
The film service judges that “the pimped up 3D computer animation suffers from its naive figure drawing, penetrating protagonists with young, dynamic trims and a striking lack of ideas”.
Awards
In 2015 the film received the Bavarian Film Award for best animated film.
