Maya the Bee (also called Maya the Bee 3D ) is a 3D animation series for children from 2013 that was created in Germany and France . It is a new edition of the cartoon series of the same name from the 1970s and, like its predecessor, is based on the stories of Waldemar Bonsels .

In addition to the production company Studio 100 also appeared ZDF and TF1 from France in production. Patrick Elmendorff was in charge of production.
Theme music
The title song Die Biene Maja originally comes from Karel Svoboda (composition) and Florian Cusano (text) and was also the theme music of the cartoon series, sung by Karel Gott at the time . The new edition of the song was produced by Jean Frankfurter and sung by Helene Fischer .
With this new version of the title song, which was published on the day it was first broadcast on March 29, 2013, Helene Fischer reached number 78 in the German charts.
Charisma
On December 16, 2012, a making-of for the series was broadcast in Trickboxx at KiKA .
The series was first broadcast on ZDF on Good Friday, March 29, 2013. The series has also been running on KiKA since March 31, and on ORF eins since April 2 in Austria . Since October 1, 2013 Maya the Bee can also be seen on Pay TV on Junior .
The second season was first broadcast on August 29, 2013, the third season on January 24, 2014. The fourth season is announced for November 3, 2017.
The broadcast on TV24 in Switzerland began on January 4, 2016 .

particularities
In the US, Netflix removed the episode "The Slimy Heinz" (episode 69, on Netflix as episode 35) from its program because a penis drawing on a tree trunk can be seen in the background of a scene.

Motion picture
In 2014 a movie was released, Maya the Bee - The Movie . The cinema release in Germany was on September 11, 2014.
The voice actors are not the same as in the series. Among other things, the role of Willi spoke in the movie Jan Delay .
