Martin Blankemeyer
Martin Blankemeyer (* 1971 in Landau in der Pfalz ) is a German film director and film producer .
Life
Martin Blankemeyer grew up in Bad Bergzabern in the south of the Palatinate and was involved in the youth press , on the federal board of the federal student council and as federal manager of the young democrats . Blankemeyer began his film career as a cable helper at ZDF in Mainz . Later he first studied directing in a double degree course at the film school École Supérieure d'AudioVisuel of the University of Toulouse 2 - Le Mirail and media economics at the University of Applied Sciences Wiesbaden and then completed the master class for young European film producers in Ludwigsburg and Paris as well as the master’s degree in media law from Johannes-Gutenberg -University of Mainz .
His graduation film Liberation Day was invited to over 50 festivals in 20 countries, including the Festival Internacional de Cine de Donostia-San Sebastián . In 2006, Blankemeyer founded a small film festival himself: the KALIBER35 Munich International Short Film Festival , which took place in Munich until 2016 with annually changing festival directors. For his first feature film, Der Rote Punkt , he was awarded the Bavarian Film Prize for Best Young Producer in 2009.
He is a member of the board of directors of the Münchner Filmwerkstatt and a member of the Producers Association , Federal Association of Directing , Filmbüro NW and Mensa in Germany , as well as the German , Franco-German and European Film Academy , the German Academy for Television and the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences . From 2013 to 2016 he was managing director of the movie house Cologne and was in Cologne from 2015 to 2019 the General Assembly of the Chamber of Commerce of. In 2019 he was awarded the medal Munich shines - the friends of Munich "in recognition of his voluntary commitment and his related services to the cultural city of Munich" . and received the Medal of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany at the suggestion of the Bavarian Prime Minister . In the local elections in Bavaria in 2020 , he is running for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen for the Munich City Council and the Schwabing-Freimann district committee
