Marie Miyayama

Marie Miyayama (* 1972 in Tokyo ) is a Japanese film director living in Germany .

biography

After graduating from school she studied film studies and creative writing at Waseda University and German at the Goethe Institute in Tokyo. In 1995 she went to Germany, where she first studied theater studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1998 she switched to the University of Television and Film Munich , studying directing cinema and television drama , which she was the first Japanese woman to take up. As the editor of her own debut film Der Rote Punkt , she is one of the winners of the German Film Award at the Hof International Film Festival 2008.
