Helena Hufnagel (born August 1, 1985 in Gießen ) is a German author , director and producer of feature and documentary films .

Life

Growing up near Bonn, she first studied communication science at the LMU Munich . Until 2015 she studied media economics and production at the University of Television and Film Munich as well as creative writing with Doris Dörrie and television journalism with Dieter Kronzucker . Her documentary debut as a director, “Erntefaktor Null”, was shown at over 50 festivals (Germany Shorts in Cannes, opening film Dok.Fest Munich etc.). In 2014 she filmed the short story “ Willa ” by Stephen King as a producer and director . The film was shown at 45 international festivals (LA Shorts, Palm Springs International ShortFest etc.).

Helena Hufnagel produces and directs films with her production company Cocofilms GmbH. In 2017 she made her cinema debut as a director and producer, once please everything, in coproduction with the Maas & Füllmich film group, which premiered at the Max Ophüls Preis film festival and opened in cinemas across Germany on July 20, 2017. In 2018 she received the VFG Producer Award as part of the Bavarian Film Award for this film . In 2018 she shot the 9th Tatort Weimar Die Harte Kern with Christian Ulmen and Nora Tschirner .
