background

In 2013, Klaus Diepold , who was Vice President at the Technical University of Munich in 2013 , and Tobias Grabmeier , who studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Munich , came up with the idea of a web series about a student at a technical university. The latter then approached Helena Hufnagel and Sebastian Stojetz , who joined the team as producers and scriptwriters, which then developed the story for Technically Single.

The web series was produced by Helena Hufnagel (Cocofilms GmbH) with co-producer Lena Karbe (Karbe Film), the executive producer is Lena Klein . The shooting lasted 10 days and took place almost exclusively at the original locations (lecture hall, library, StuCafé) on the Munich campus of the Technical University . Much of the music was produced especially for the series by the members of the band Claire , including the theme music Hi Kids . In addition, bands from German-speaking countries were selected for the soundtrack (Matija, Angela Aux , NIHILS , Burkini Beach, Moop Mama ).

The project is the first web series to receive funding from the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (under the working title Daily Among Men ).

Technically Single premiered on October 4, 2018 at the Hamburg Film Festival . The Munich premiere took place on October 10, 2018. The first episode was then shown exclusively on Spiegel TV three days before the official start .

It has been marketed as a format on the ProSiebenSat.1 media streaming platform Joyn since June 18, 2019, and can be accessed in full there free of charge.

Reviews

“'Technically Single' (working title: 'Daily Among Men') has succeeded for several reasons. On the one hand, the miniseries produced by HFF graduate Helena Hufnagel ('Once, please everything') has a casual attitude, the narrative tone is self-deprecating ('He there, mechanical engineer, with an emphasis on Bauer'), over-the-top and funny ('What do you think because where are we here? At LMU or what? '). There is talk of 'happy hacking', and when camping in front of the TU, Juli is told: 'You already know that campus doesn't come from camping.' On the other hand, the image of Munich is fresh and authentic; There is a celebration, for example, in Thiel. In addition, a few Munich bands made it onto the soundtrack. And finally, the production, co-financed by the Film-Fernseh-Fonds Bayern with 50,000 euros, also functions as a pure entertainment format. "
