The series camp (title addition: International Festival for Series and TV Culture) is a festival dedicated exclusively to television series and their professional discussion. It takes place annually in October at the University of Television and Film (HFF) in Munich and has - in addition to the Film Festival Cologne - developed into a well-known TV festival in a short time. The event is divided into the Seriencamp Festival , a freely accessible public festival with free screenings of series episodes from all over the world, and the Seriencamp Conference , a specialist event where makers, authors, producers and broadcasters meet for a creative exchange.

history

The event is organized by the Seriencamp UG. The first serial camp festival took place from October 15 to 18, 2015. With over 4,000 visitors, it was such a great success that they immediately spoke of a second edition. This took place again from October 20 to 23, 2016 at the HFF in Munich - this time with a total of two specialist days and the first ever series camp awards. The third edition of the festival took place in Munich from October 26th to 29th, 2017 and attracted around 5,000 visitors. In 2018, in addition to long-term partner Sky Deutschland, Deutsche Telekom was also the main sponsor for the first time. Almost 6,000 visitors found their way to the fourth edition.

The fifth edition will take place from November 8th to 10th, 2019.

Series Camp Conference

The series camp conference (formerly: Professional Days), which requires registration, focuses on current developments in the international series landscape, is aimed at creatives, authors, producers, directors, distributors and decision-makers alike and "is dedicated to the different aspects of development, production and sales of series in a constantly changing environment. ”At the same time, attempts are being made to strengthen European and international exchange in networking events.

For the program of the second series camp, three festival tracks were introduced for the first time ( New Series , New Season , Sneak Peek ). In the New Series area , Westworld , The Young Pope , Büro der Legenden , Atlanta , “Divorce”, Die Geiseln , “Search Party” and “Quarry” were shown and the audience voted on the Audience Award . As New Season among others were American Horror Story Roanoke: Club red bands shown. A four-person jury consisting of presenter Jochen Schropp and journalists Hannah Pilarczyk ( Der Spiegel ), Birgit Fuß ( Rolling Stone ) and Dirk Oetjen ( TV Digital ) decided on the sneak peek area . Mostly German premieres without a broadcast date could be seen here, including "Dix Pour Cent", "Beau Sejour", "The Kettering Incident", "Bonusfamiljen", "Loin De Chez Nous", "Close To The Enemy", "Killing Grandma", "Outsiders". The jury also awarded a prize for the best web series.

Partner festivals

The series camp has been working together with the German festivals die seriale , Wendie Webfest Hamburg and Webfest Berlin in the field of web series since 2016 .
