The hostages (original title: Bnei Aruba ) is an Israeli television series , which is also known internationally under the title Hostages ( English for hostages ). The first German-language broadcast of the first season took place on January 19, 2017 on RTL Crime , the first episode of the second season was first broadcast on RTL Crime on May 25, 2017.

The series also formed the basis for the US television series Hostages , which even premiered a month before this . However, this adaptation was discontinued after one season.

The surgeon Dr. Yael Danon is supposed to operate the Israeli Prime Minister Shmuel Netzer. The night before the operation, she and her family are taken hostage by masked people in their own home. The hostage takers want to force them to let the prime minister die in the operation. In ten episodes, the series tells of how the doctor tries to save her family and the prime minister.
