Gorge de Loup is a neighborhood in the 9th arrondissement (Lyon) of Lyon . It is located between the Vaise district in the north and the Champvert district in the south.
Name origin
The neighborhood was first called "Gorge de Vacques" and was renamed "Gorge de Loup" when the Loup family owned the area.
description
Gorge de Loup is located on the banks of the Saône and is a former industrial area that has changed profoundly in the last few years. Today it is more of a quiet residential area.
The place offers different aspects, depending on which part of Gorge de Loup you are in. In the south, at the height of the observatory, there are relatively high apartment blocks from 1960 to 1980 surrounded by green spaces. These properties are currently being renovated to make them more attractive and attract a wealthier population. Like many quarters in Lyon, Gorge de Loup is also changing its character (" gentrification "), similar to the neighboring Vaise quarter , which changed a lot in the 2000s.
There are pretty new houses and small bungalows on Avenue René Cassin. There are also small townhouses with two to three floors in the area. Finally, a whole part of the district consists mainly of tertiary activities housed in recent buildings such as the IBS business center in Lyon or the services of the international group Novacap.
