Kim Bodnia (born April 12, 1965 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish film and theater actor .

Life

Bodina comes from a Jewish family with Polish and Russian roots. In an interview in 2014 he described himself as "half Polish, half Russian and completely Jewish." Bodnia made his cinema debut in 1989 with a small role in the Danish film En afgrund af frihed by director Peter Eszterhas . In 1991 he graduated from Statens teater skole (Copenhagen State Theater School). After several roles in the theater he made the breakthrough in the Danish thriller 1994 Nightwatch - Nightwatch and received the award for his role Robert of Robert festivals . Two years later he appeared in Nicolas Winding Refn's gangster film Pusher . He made several films with director Lasse Spang Olsen , including In China They Eat Dogs from 1999 and its prequel Old Men in New Cars - In China They Eat Dogs 2 .

In 2001 he made his debut as a director and screenwriter with the short film Escape - Flugten fra ensomheden . In 2004 he wrote the screenplay for the thriller The Good Cop with Spang Olsen , in which he also played the lead role. In addition to Sarah Butler , William Baldwin and Estella Warren , he took on one of the leading roles in the thriller The Stranger Within . In the Swedish-Danish TV crime series Die Brücke - Transit in den Tod , broadcast on ZDF from 2012 , he plays the main male role of Commissioner Martin Rohde . He justified his departure from the crime series by saying that as a Jew he no longer felt safe in the Öresund region, especially in Malmö . In 2014 he starred in Jon Stewart's political drama Rosewater .

Bodnia was married to the actress Lotte Andersen (born March 18, 1963), who also starred in the film Nightwatch . They have a child together. He has been married to actress Rikke Louise Andersson since 2013 , whom he met in 1994 while filming Nightwatch . They have three children (* 2003, 2005 and 2007).

In 2009 Bodnia was awarded the Bodil for Best Supporting Actor for the film Terribly Happy .
