The Fall (Original title: The Fall ) is a British television series produced by Allan Cubitt for BBC Two since 2013 . The main roles are Gillian Anderson, known from the X-Files: The Scary Cases of the FBI, and Jamie Dornan . The series premiered on May 13, 2013.

Stella Gibson, Detective Superintendent will, of London in Northern Ireland's capital Belfast offset to guide the search for a serial killer there. The serial killer is Paul Spector, a family therapist who on the one hand leads a very harmonious family life with his wife Sally-Ann and his two children Liam and Olivia, but at the same time perpetrates brutal murders of similar women. With intuition and criminological craft, Gibson begins her hunt for Spector.

In February 2012, it was announced that BBC Two had ordered a five-episode series called The Fall . Filming for the first season took place in Belfast between March and June 2012 . After broadcasting only two episodes, it was decided at the end of May 2013 for a six-part second season. Despite the decline in viewership during the second season, the decision was made in March 2015 for a third season.

The series started on May 13, 2013 on BBC Two and was followed by 4.49 million viewers, which corresponds to a market share of 15.4%. This made the series the most successful restart for the station in five years. The first season ended on June 10, 2013. The second season aired from November 9 to December 17, 2014, and the third season from September 29, 2016 to October 28, 2016.

The ZDF re-cut and shortened the episodes in 6 times 90 minutes. Episode 1 contains elements from sequences 1.1–1.2, sequence 2 elements from sequences 1.2–1.4, sequence 3 elements from sequences 1.4-1.5. Episode 4 contains episodes 2.1 and 2.2, episode 5 contains episodes 2.3 and 2.4, episode 6 contains episodes 2.5 and 2.6.
Even before they were broadcast on television, the episodes were made available on November 1, 2015 in the ZDFmediathek .
