Dogs of Berlin is a German drama series by the video-on-demand provider Netflix and its second German production after Dark . Filming began on November 2, 2017 in Berlin under the direction of Christian Alvart and producer Sigi Kamml .
Fahri Yardım and Felix Kramer play the leading roles in a team of investigators who take up the fight against the crimes of the Berlin underworld. The series was released on Netflix on December 7, 2018.
action
The story develops around the murder of a prominent German-Turkish national soccer player on the day before an international soccer match.
A lot seems possible, for example that neo-Nazis from Marzahn are behind the murder or the Turkish family clan of the soccer superstar. However, the investigations also go in the direction of the Berlin Lebanese mafia, until in the end even high-ranking officials in the capital are targeted. Ultimately, the perpetrator is identified who has no connection to the previous suspicions.
Orkan Erdem, a player of the German national soccer team of Turkish origin, is found dead in Marzahn. Two young patrol officers are at the scene. Kurt Grimmer, commissioner at the homicide commission of the State Criminal Police Office , happened to be at the site because he was having an affair with Sabine Ludar in Marzahn. He realizes that if the murder is kept secret, he can settle his betting debts with Tomo Kovac, a violent betting shop operator. He first disappears from the scene to raise money for a bet on the upcoming game Germany - Turkey. Sabine helps him. In addition, Grimmer raised money from the “Comrades Marzahn”, a right-wing extremist association in which both his brother and his mother were active. In order to prevent the murder from becoming known, Grimmer only lets his superior Seiler know. This ensures that no reports get outside and the football association also hushed up Erdem's absence, "because one is afraid of riots," according to the official version. The “Red Card” special commission is set up to clarify the case. In addition to Kurt Grimmer, it is to have a second head with a migration background .
Meanwhile, the drug squad is on Hakim Tarik-Amir, the head of the Lebanese mafia "Tarik-Amir-Clan" in Berlin . Among other things, the student Murad Issa, a talented rapper , is targeted by investigators because he carries out messenger services for Tarik-Amir. During a house search, the chief of operations fell through a trap door and seriously injured her knee. Erol Birkan, who initially wants to stay with the drug squad, is Seiler's preferred candidate for the management of the Soko “red card”.
Before the international match between Germany and Turkey, Kurt Grimmer suspects that Germany will most likely win even without Erdem. To make his bet a success, he went into the dressing room of the German national team before kick-off and shocked the players with the news of Erdem's murder. As a result, the German team lost 2-1 to Turkey because they couldn't use a penalty kick in the 92nd minute to equalize.
Paula Grimmer has an unstable marriage with her husband Kurt. She owns an interior design business where she employs a young person who has committed a past criminal offense. After Paula confronts her with the accusation of stealing money from the till, the accused beats up Paula, ransacked her shop and urinates on her defenseless victim to humiliate her. The incident caused the store to be targeted by a motorcycle club of Turkish origin. This extorted protection money from the local shops. Fascinated by each other, Paula and one of the protection racketeers start an affair.
After Erdem's death, Raphael Bou'Penga is the new hope of the national team. After Kareem, the brother of Hakim Tarik-Amir, bragged to Kovac that he had the entire team under control, he did everything in his power to make Raphael compliant through blackmail and intimidation.
