Marc Hofmeister (* 1978 in Hildesheim ) is a German film editor who lives in Berlin .

life and work

Marc Hofmeister graduated from the Michelsenschule in his native Hildesheim in 1999 . In 2001 he won an internship at Nestlé with a self-made commercial . From 2001 to 2003 he worked as an assistant editor and film editor in Munich and Cologne and also in the Hildesheim video library "Die Cassette". From 2003 he studied assembly at the University of Film and Television "Konrad Wolf" .

With the documentary feature film Preußisch Gangstar , directed by Bartosz Werner and Irma-Kinga Stelmach , he made his debut in 2007 as a film editor for a feature film. The film won numerous prizes, including 2007 Best Film at the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award , Best Film at the Achtung Berlin Film Festival 2007 and also Best Film at the Augenweide Film Festival 2008 in Kiel. The film was shown at the Berlinale 2008 in the German Cinema series and in competition at the Max Ophüls Preis film festival .

This was followed in 2008 by the horror comedy Must Love Death , directed by Andreas Schaap , which won the Best International Feature award at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal in 2009 , and Weeds in Paradise , a coming-of-age film co-produced by the NDR , which was again in competition at the 2010 film festival Max Ophüls price ran. Hofmeister cut a music video for the German rapper FlowinImmO and the German-speaking songwriter and singer Gisbert zu Knyphausen . In 2010 the documentary he edited, 39 Days - A Road Trip, was shown on ServusTV and the short film Magda on RBB . In 2011 he won the Best Editing award at the European Film Festival in Paris with Nullpunkt . The film was nominated for the Shocking Shorts Award of the TV channel 13th Street nominated Universal and came into the final round of the three best films. The free TV premiere was on September 24, 2011 on Tele 5 .

In 2012, Hofmeister cut Tim Sander goes to Hollywood , a mixture of documentary and comedy . The film premiered at the Oldenburg Film Festival in 2012 and was then released on DVD and in a shortened ten-part web series on MyVideo . Marc Hofmeister has been working primarily with director Christian Alvart since 2014 and has edited several feature films for him and the second German Netflix series Dogs of Berlin .

Marc Hofmeister is a member of the Federal Association of Film Editing Editor eV (BFS).
