Walter Macher

Walter Macher (born November 25, 1915 in Vienna ; † October 7, 1993 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Life

After attending primary and secondary school , Walter Macher studied law at the University of Vienna . After obtaining his doctorate , Macher worked as a lawyer from 1950.

From 1953 Macher, who belonged to the Austrian Business Association within the ÖVP, headed the district group in Vienna's Neubau district . In the course of time he rose to become a board member of the Austrian Tenants, Settlers and Apartment Owners Association.

Macher held his first political mandate from 1964, when he moved into the Vienna State Parliament and City Council as a member of the ÖVP . Macher then belonged to the Vienna regional parliament for 14 years, until 1978. In November 1978 he was sworn in as a member of the Federal Council. Macher then sat in the second Austrian parliamentary chamber until March 1980.

Macher was buried at the Meidlinger Friedhof .
