As an autodidact , he has published over 400 publications on the subject of pharmacy history, including articles on the history of individual pharmacies, pharmacists and pharmacist families, pharmacopoeias, biographical studies and political issues. It was in 1957 in Paris with a dissertation on Martin Heinrich Klaproth (1743-1817) for Dr. pharm. PhD . From 1952 to 1978 he was the editor and author of the Pharmaziegeschichtliche Rundschau and the articles on the history of pharmacy.
