Nina Grosse (born August 11, 1958 in Munich ) is a German director and author.

Life

Nina Grosse grew up in Munich and Geneva. From 1979 to 1981 she studied German, philosophy and theater studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , then switched to the University of Television and Film Munich to study directing. Her first feature film, the literary film adaptation of the glass, based on a story by Julio Cortazar, for which she also wrote the screenplay, was awarded the Bavarian Film Prize in 1987 and nominated for the German Film Prize. The feature film Never in Life , for which she wrote and directed the book together with the main actor Helmut Berger , received the Max Ophüls Prize in 1991 .

In 1997 she made the international movie Feuerreiter , which is about the life of Hölderlin . The film was shown at numerous international festivals and Ulrich Matthes was awarded the Bavarian Film Prize for his role as Sinclair. After numerous works for television, for which she often wrote the screenplay, Nina Grosse shot her next feature film, Olgas Sommer , in 2002 , a German-French co-production with Clémence Poésy and Bruno Todeschini in the leading roles.

Together with Friedrich Ani and Katja Flint , she developed the ZDF series Franziska Luginsland from 2004-2007 , for which she wrote and directed three episodes. The drama The Prodigal Son , which she directed based on a script by Fred and Léonie-Claire Breinersdorfer , won the prize for the best TV film at the Munich Film Festival in 2009 . In 2012 Nina Grosse adapted Bernhard Schlink's novel The Weekend for the big screen. She wrote the episodes Grün and Summertime for the ZDF series Verbrechen, based on the bestseller of the same name by Ferdinand von Schirach .

From 2014 to 2018 Nina Grosse worked on the series Die Protokollantin , for which she wrote the scripts and directed together with Samira Radsi. The recorder ran in April 2018 in the cannesseries competition.

Nina Grosse teaches at the Baden-Württemberg , Potsdam and Cologne film schools . From 2004 to 2007 Nina Grosse was a board member of the German Film Academy .
