reception

The series was nominated for the Cannes International Series Festival with eight other productions . In Germany it was shown at the Munich Film Festival in the “New German Series” category. The recorder received mostly positive reviews. Claudia Reinhard wrote in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung : “The screenwriter and director Nina Grosse really showed her nerves with the conception of her miniseries. She dispenses with effects that increase the adrenaline level or excessive cliffhangers at the end of the episodes. The drama unfolds slowly and steadily. ” Deutschlandfunk emphasized the unusual design:“ When Freya stands at the window at night, it is reminiscent of a painting by Edward Hopper . And if she suddenly hallucinates about her daughter, it kindles a subtle horror. ” Die Zeit praised the performance of the committed ensemble and the“ strong male and female roles that are in interesting contrast to each other. ”In the taz , Jens Mayer emphasized that the Series demonstrates the emancipation surge in the wake of the #MeToo debate with a director and a protagonist beyond stereotyped stereotypes.
