Life
Peter Kurth grew up in Goldberg near Güstrow. After graduating from high school and serving in the army, he graduated from the Rostock drama school . Kurth received his first engagement at the Theater for Young Audiences in Magdeburg (1981–1984). From 1984 to 1988 he played at the Theater der Altmark in Stendal, at the Städtisches Theater Karl-Marx-Stadt / Chemnitz from 1988 to 1997 and then until 2000 at the Schauspielhaus Leipzig . From 2000 to 2006 Peter Kurth was in the ensemble of the Thalia Theater Hamburg and switched to the Maxim-Gorki-Theater Berlin for the 2006/2007 season . He followed its director Armin Petras in 2013 to the ensemble of the Schauspiel Stuttgart . In November 2004 Kurth was awarded the Rita Tanck Glaser Acting Prize of the Hamburg Cultural Foundation , and in 2014 he was named Actor of the Year by the theater magazine Theater heute .
In addition to his work at the theater, Peter Kurth regularly plays in German film and television productions, for example in the movies Good Bye, Lenin! (2003), Hallesche Kometen (2006), A Friend of Me (2006) or The Small and the Bad (2015). From 2011 to 2015 he could be seen in the Frankfurt Tatort team Steier and Mey as commissioner Erik Seidel. In 2014 Peter Kurth took on a leading role in a movie for the first time: In Die Kleinen und die Böse he embodies the asocial, brutal, but at the same time comical and in the end even in a certain way sympathetic prison brother Hotte.
