Schmitke is a film by Stepan Altrichter from 2014 based on a short story by Tomás Koncinský. The cinema release in Germany was on November 5, 2015.
action
57-year-old Julius Schmitke, a German engineer for wind turbines, feels sick and old. Since his professional success did not materialize, he and his younger colleague Thomas were sent to the Czech Ore Mountains, where they were supposed to repair the aging C 174 wind turbine. Like Schmitke, it groans under its burden and age. When Thomas suddenly disappears, strange things happen and Schmitke begins to feel the spirit of the forest. The longer he wanders through the woods, the more surprising he is that the expedition seems to be a journey into oneself.
criticism
The film service ruled that the “ film , which oscillates between comedy and subtle fantasy humor in stoic calm”, “lives from its authentic staff and an outstanding leading actor”. It is a “wilderness therapy on the trail of German romanticism as a wake-up call in the stream of unconscious functioning”.
