The parish church of Puch bei Hallein is located at the northern entrance to the town of Puch bei Hallein in the Hallein district in the state of Salzburg . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated on the feast of the birth of the Virgin Mary , belongs to the Hallein deanery in the Archdiocese of Salzburg . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

A church was documented in 1347. In 1668 a sacristy was added. In 1735 a side aisle was added. In 1930 the church was elevated to a parish church. In 1966 the cemetery was expanded and a mortuary was built. In 1966/1967 the church was restored.

architecture

The late Gothic church building with a polygonal apse has a simple exterior with a base. The three-storey late Gothic tower stands on the south side of the nave and contains the round-arched beveled south portal, the tower has pointed-arched sound windows and round-arched baroque window openings above and wears a pointed helmet, which is pulled down over the beveled corners of the tower.

The tower entrance hall has a late Gothic star rib vault on consoles. The transition to the nave is formed by a late Gothic, multi-fluted, pointed arch south portal. The main nave and choir are late Gothic, the ribbed vault has a six-part diamond star with round keystones above wall pillars and round services, in the choir on services with round capitals. The four-bay nave has a wooden gallery from 1672 in the west with a south-facing balcony over the second bay as access to the upper floor of the tower with a late Gothic keel-arched portal. In the fourth nave yoke to the south is a late Gothic round arched beveled sacristy portal. The one-yoke choir closes with a three-eighth closure. The north four-and-a-half-bay baroque side aisle under a pent roof is shortened in the west compared to the main nave and has a fluted round arched portal with the year 1735, in the first half bay there is a staircase to the gallery of the main nave, in the three following bays there are vaults made of lancet barrels with belt arches on pilasters profiled capitals, the fourth yoke is a groin vault the length of the choir yoke. In the south there are single-storey extensions under a pent roof on both sides of the tower, to the east the sacristy.

There is a crucifix by Wolf Weissenkirchner from 1659.
