Eray Eğilmez

Eray Mutlu Eğilmez (born July 14, 1976 in Aydın / Turkey ) is a German actor / performer of Turkish origin.

Life

In the year he was born, Eray Eğilmez's parents moved with him to Duisburg , where he grew up until he was 12 years old. In 1988 the family moved to Berlin. Egilmez completed his Abitur at the Luise-Henriette Oberschule in Berlin-Tempelhof and completed his studies early in 2003 at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater.

Egilmez had his first engagement at the Berliner Ensemble , where he worked with Claus Peymann and Robert Wilson . In 2004 he was part of the main cast of the Sat.1 Comedy Happy Friday, where he played alongside Martina Hill in the ensemble.

Further appearances on television followed, including in series such as Wolffs Revier , Tatort , Der Ermittler , SOKO Leipzig and Der Kriminalist .

From 2006 to 2010 he was part of the Blue Man Group , for which he specifically learned to drum in Berlin and then played on the show in New York. For four years he played as Blue Man in New York, Berlin, Stuttgart, Stockholm and Vienna.

In 2011 he starred in the film 5 Years of Life , about the life of Murat Kurnaz, who was falsely imprisoned in Guantanamo . This was followed by the feature film Ummah - Among friends of Cüneyt Kaya , together with Frederick Lau and Kida Ramadan , as well as other short and feature films. He appeared in an episode of the successful Showtime series Homeland (2015), in 2017 in the movie Unter German Beds and in 2018 in 6 episodes of the Netflix series Dogs of Berlin .

In 2019 Egilmez played at the Schauspiel Frankfurt under the direction of David Bösch in the German premiere of The Nation by Eric de Vroedt .
