Eric de Vroedt

Eric de Vroedt (* 1972 in Rotterdam ) is a Dutch director, author, actor and theater artist. After graduating from the Drama Academy Arnhem in 1996, he staged several sensational plays, in the Netherlands for example as a guest director at the renowned Toneelgroep Amsterdam. In Germany he is a guest director at the Schauspielhaus Bochum and staged Die Restposten at the Dortmund Theater . His productions alternate between realistic seriousness, formal ease and playful comedy.

Eric de Vroedt has been Artistic Director of the National Theater (Nationale Toneel) in The Hague since September 2016.

Mightysociety

Between 2004 and 2012 De Vroedt wrote and directed the ten-part series “mightysociety”. Ten committed performances (mightysociety 1 to 10, 2004–2012) deal with current issues, e.g. B. Politics, Terrorism, Global Age, Aging, Political Populism and the War in Afghanistan. For this project De Vroedt received the “Amsterdamprijs” in 2012, the most important art award in the Netherlands. Four performances have been selected for the Dutch Theater Festival.
