Joseph von Kopp

Joseph Kopp , since 1880 Knight von Kopp , (born November 15, 1829 Aschaffenburg , † September 1, 1911 in Munich ) was a Bavarian administrative officer.

Life

Kopp attended the Latin school and the grammar school in Aschaffenburg. He then studied law at the University of Würzburg Law and became 1849 member of the Corps Bavaria . After studying and completing his legal clerkship, he worked at the Brückenau district court and the Aschaffenburg district office from 1857 to 1866 . From 1866 to 1887 he held various positions in the district governments in Würzburg and Munich , interrupted by a position as district official of the Haßfurt district office from 1868 to 1871 and in the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior from 1874 to 1884. Most recently, he held the position of government director .

For his work, King Ludwig II awarded him the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown in 1880 . Associated with this was the elevation to the personal nobility status and he was allowed to call himself “Ritter von Kopp” after being entered in the nobility register . In 1895, Kopp received the command of this order. In 1887, Kopp was appointed regional president of Swabia and Neuburg . He held the office until 1897. In the same year, Kopp became the first honorary citizen of the city of Neu-Ulm .
