Cüneyt Kaya

Cüneyt Kaya (* 1980 in Berlin-Wedding ) is a German-Turkish director , screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Cüneyt Kaya lives and works in Berlin. After graduating from high school, he studied mathematics at the Free University of Berlin before turning to film. From 2004 to 2006 he made several documentaries on behalf of the EU about refugee developments in Europe. The special focus was on England, Poland, Italy and Spain, where he researched and shot for several months in collaboration with local filmmakers.

In 2009 and 2010 he worked with Hans Weingartner on the film The Sum of My Individual Parts . Ummah made his feature film debut in 2013. Frederick Lau , Kida Khodr Ramadan and Sami Nasser played in the film about an undercover police officer who went into hiding in the Arab-Turkish scene in Berlin and made new friends .

Kaya directed the 2018 comedy Verpiss dich, Schneewittchen with Bülent Ceylan in the lead role and was involved in the script for Detlev Buck's Asphalt Gorillas . On April 17, 2020, his impostor drama Betonrausch starring David Kross , Frederick Lau and Janina Uhse was released on Netflix .
