Ewa Karlström
Ewa Karlström (born February 12, 1965 in Gävle ) is a Swedish - German film producer of German films, who produced, among other things, the series Die Wilden Kerle together with Andreas Ulmke-Smeaton .
Career
Ewa Karlström, who was born in Sweden, came to Germany as a twelve year old girl with her parents, her younger sister Lisa Karlström and her brother Peter 2 years older and went to school here. At the age of 22 she went to Munich, where she studied production and media management at the University of Television and Film (HFF Munich) from 1989 to 1992 .
In 1990 she founded the film production company Vela-X together with Katja von Garnier and used it to produce the practice film Make-up! , which became a surprise success with 1.1 million admissions in Germany. The film Bandits was also made together with Katja von Garnier, but Karlström only took over the coproduction because she gave birth to her son.
In 1996, together with Andreas Ulmke-Smeaton, she founded the film production company SamFilm , with whom she has produced many successful films since then, including The Strange Behavior of Sexually Mature City dwellers during the mating season (1998) as well as the movie series Die Wilden Kerle (since 2003) and the Christmas film Es ist a moose sprung from (2005), which won the Bavarian Film Prize . In the summer of 2011 she and Andreas Ulmke-Smeaton produced the film Five Friends , which was released in late January 2012. In the following years she also produced three sequels to the film. In addition, three films from the award-winning Ostwind series have been shown in theaters since 2013 .
