action

season 1

The 23-year-old Alexandra Winkler lives alone in Vienna and works in a large bakery. One day she learns that her sole heir of Trakehner - Stud Hochstetten is owned the Karl Hochstetten and her illegitimate father. Since Alexandra grew up with foster parents, she believed for a long time that her birth parents had died. Completely unexpectedly, she now also has a family consisting of her half-siblings Maximilian, Leander and Silvia Hochstetten and her stepmother Marie Hochstetten, who had other plans for the inheritance and knew neither about the will nor about the illegitimate daughter.

While Alexandra feels a strong longing for family on the one hand, she has to learn to defend herself against the hostilities of her power-obsessed half-brother Maximilian and his lover Margarethe "Maggie" Loss. At the same time, a dark family secret gradually comes to light. She finds support in the friendship with the half-blood stallion "December", through her friend Paula Nova, as well as through her riding instructor Raphael Horvath, whose family has leased part of the Hochstetten estate, which is also a thorn in Maximilian's side.

reception

Heike Hupertz from the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung gives a negative verdict on the series. It is, in their opinion, "an attack on judgment" and a "funeral fairy tale". Furthermore, she thinks she can see strong parallels to the Ostwind series. "For the eight-part series 'Trakehnerblut', ServusTV teamed up with Samfilm and this with Lea Schmidbauer. Outsider horse Ostwind became outsider horse December, Mika became the orphan Alex, Schmidbauer added a dose of ' Guldenburgs ' and ' Dallas ' to the script, something ' Suddenly Princess ', a shaken measure of ' Cinderella ', a pinch of ' Schloss am Wörthersee ' and a lot pitiful drudgery in nostalgic colors. What was still missing? A magnificent mansion, Jeanette Hain in the role of the cold-hearted family destroyer, the disturbed half-siblings of the main character Alex, an angry stepmother, a kind-hearted Roma or Sinti, here persistently called 'gypsies', whose heart beats for horses, Alex and the Jerusalem artichoke, a best Girlfriend, business sheikhs, an estate cook who produces cabbage stains, a loyal estate manager and a dealmaker that only Stipe Erceg can play. That promises the best entertainment - perfect for six to twelve year olds. "In her opinion," ARD [...] made a mistake in the program, the series would run better on the children's channel . "

The Austrian blog Grossfilmlandsprodukt rates the series mostly positively:

“'Trakehner Blood' is a series with a high narrative complexity. Ambivalent characters, diverse character arcs, many cross-episode arcs and, last but not least, the renunciation of a 'case of the week' speak a clear language: 'Trakehner Blood' claims to be a quality series, as it is called colloquially. The series demands a lot from the audience - you can't miss an episode, and it's often the small details of one episode that find greater meaning in the next. So it's no wonder that the odds are falling - getting into the series late is difficult. […] At the same time, the series has to be careful not to overdo it with the narrative complexity, especially when it comes to the interweaving of the storylines across the many episodes. [...] The episodic structure of 'Trakehner Blood' is more defined by its cliffhanger and duration than by the setting of the beginning, middle and end of such smaller stories [...] "
