Andreas Ulmke-Smeaton (* 1967 in Marburg ) is a German film producer who, among other things, produced the series Die Wilder Kerle together with Ewa Karlström .

Life

Andreas Ulmke-Smeaton was born in Marburg in 1967. From 1989 to 1992 he studied at the University of Television and Film in the field of production and media management . Before that, he had already studied business administration in Frankfurt for two years. In 1992 he produced the short film About War , directed by Miguel Alexandre . The short film received an Oscar nomination for best foreign student film .

In 1996, he and Ewa Karlström founded the film production company SamFilm , with which he has produced many successful films since then, including The Strange Behavior of Sexually Mature City dwellers during the mating season (1998) as well as the movie series Die Wilden Kerle (since 2003) and the Christmas film It's a Moose sprung (2005), which won the Bavarian Film Prize . In the summer of 2011 he produced the film Five Friends , which is based on the book series by Enid Blyton . It was released in theaters in late January 2012. In the following years he also produced the three sequels to the film. In addition, two films from the award-winning Ostwind series have been shown in theaters since 2013 . The third Ostwind part Ostwind - Departure to Ora will be published in 2017.
