Svenja Jung (born May 28, 1993 in Weroth , Rhineland-Palatinate ) is a German actress .

Career

Svenja Jung graduated from high school in 2012, while she took acting lessons at Juniorhouse in Cologne. Afterwards she shot for the television series of Bayerischer Rundfunk and was seen in short films.

She gained greater fame through her lead role in the soap opera Unter uns , in which she played the role of Lisa Brück for a year . Other leading episode roles in the ZDF crime series Heldt , Der Alte and Soko Köln followed. After leaving Unter uns she was cast by Florian Gottschick for the film adaptation of the autobiographical novel Fucking Berlin for the role of Sonia Rossi . The film was released on DVD in 2016 and has also been available on Netflix since July 2018 .

In 2016, the film adaptation of Andreas Steinhöfel's Die Mitte der Welt was released , in which Jung played the main role of Kat . For this achievement, Jung was nominated for the New German Cinema Award for “Best Young Actress” at the Munich Film Festival. The short film Darth Maul: Apprentice , in which Jung takes the lead role as the Jedi student, became a YouTube hit (over 23 million clicks) and won the “ German Web Video Prize 2016” in the “Best Video of the Year” category.

In the ZDF book adaptation Ostfriesenkiller , Jung played the role of the mentally handicapped girl Sylvia Kleine at the side of Christiane Paul . Svenja Jung was nominated for the New Faces Award 2017 for her three leading roles in Fucking Berlin , Die Mitte der Welt and Ostfriesenkiller . In 2017 she was a leading actress in the 1970s series Zarah - Wild Years .

For her performance in the movie A Gschicht über d'Lieb as Maria, she was honored with the Bavarian Film Prize 2018 as best young actress on January 25, 2019 .

In 2019 she was seen in the German miniseries Zeit der Secrets , which was produced for Netflix .

Svenja Jung lives in Berlin and studies media studies at the University of Potsdam .
