Ruth Toma (* 1956 in Kötzting ) is a German screenwriter .

Life

She has won numerous prizes, including the 2002 Adolf Grimme Prize for her work on the screenplay for Hermine Huntgeburth's television film Romeo and the Screenplay Prize at the Bavarian Film Prize 2003 for her screenplay for Solino, which was filmed by Fatih Akın . She had her first major success with Rolf Schübel with A Song of Love and Death - Gloomy Sunday (1999), for which a German Screenplay Prize was awarded.

Toma belongs to the publishing house of the authors and sometimes sits on film award juries. In 2003 she was one of the founding members of the German Film Academy .

Toma is a signatory of Contract 18 and has undertaken to only work on film projects in which a. she must authorize all editing of the script and she has a say in the selection of the director.
