Luigi Falorni (* 1971 in Florence ) is a film director, author, cameraman and producer living in Germany.

Luigi Falorni grew up in Mugello, a region of Tuscany north of Florence. He attended a science high school and graduated from high school in 1989. Between 1988 and 1993 he worked in Florence as a composer and arranger in two pop bands, Drops and Il fiore in bocca , and between 1990 and 1992 took a directing course at the Cooperativa Schermobianco . In 1994 he came to Munich at the University of Television and Film , where he studied directing and camera in the documentary film course. In 2003 he shot a diploma film The Story of the Weeping Camel , in which he worked as a writer and director together with his fellow student Byambasuren Davaa and was also on camera. The film became a worldwide box office success and was nominated for an Oscar in 2005. In 2007 he made his feature film debut with Fireheart , inspired by the autobiography of the same name by Senait G. Mehari . The film had its world premiere in the competition at the Berlinale 2008 .
